Student Profile - DJ Van Andreas

What/who inspired you to be a DJ?
My cousin in Vancouver got me initially interested, but it wasn't until I met my buddy Gilberto, who wanted me to show him what I knew of production, and in turn started to teach me the basics of DJing, that I really got into it.

What do you enjoy most about DJing?
The music!

When you are not working which DJs would you go to see (Locally and internationally)?
Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Laidback Luke, Tiesto, Benny Benassi, Calvin Harris, Deadmau5, Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, MSTRKRFT, Spencer & Hill, Adam K, Rusko, Netsky, Armin Van Buuren, Skream, Glitch Mob, Dub FX and lots more!!

What genre do you play at the moment?
Mostly House...Electro, Progressive, Vocal, Tech, etc, any type of House, but I also enjoy playing Trance, DnB, and a bit of Dubstep

How would you describe your style? Not really sure, I like to play a mix of everything, as long as it sounds good! Do you prefer Vinyl, CD, or Midi Controllers and why? I like them all for different reasons, I figure Vinyl is better to practice with because you can't 'cheat' lol, you HAVE to beat match by ear...CDJs are good for Clubs and super reliable, and midi controllers for live production/remixing! Top 5 All time Favorite tracks? Are you working on any current projects at the moment?
I'm part of a group of DJs called the Bass Wizards, most of them from Djs United, we're starting a night on Thursdays called 'Under The House' @ Sub Lounge 168 Elizabeth St, FREE entry before 11, 2 for 1 basic spirits and $3 pots ALL NIGHT! Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
I'd like to be Producing and DJing full time, maybe touring the world ;), who knows.....
