Johnny Gleeson’s year has been a year of successful partnerships. Firstly with Carl Kennedy after the release of “Banta Boom” in February and the huge “Right before my eyes”, which is a definite hit at the moment for Roger Sanchez, Wally Lopez, Pete Tong, and Nic Fanciuli, to name a few. “Funky Freeks” due out this month also reached no. 17 on Pete tongs Buzz chart, with an exciting Robbie Rivera remix to follow. Secondly, a successful season in Ibiza as resident at the legendary Pacha. Thirdly his recent selection as resident for Defected in the House at Tank in Sydney, has firmly cemented his position as one of Australias leading DJ’s. Johnny has been at the forefront of house music since the late eighties and is affectionately known as “the Godfather” by some of the younger local jocks, which is testament to the respect he commands in his hometown. |

Busy Touring schedule throughout Australia and asia, before he heads
to Miami for
the WMC next year, has laid the foundation
for another huge year, both in the studio and the DJ box with at least
4 solo tracks ready for release and plans to release another 5 with Carl
before the conference starts. His reputation for long, memorable sets infused with his ability to consistently lift crowds with his trademark cutting edge style, and unique talent for using tools and re-edits produced exclusively for his sets, landed him residencies at some of Sydney 's longest running and internationally renowned venues including HOME, TANK, YU, Sugareef and Q bar. Internationally, “Fuck me I’m Famous” , “Underwater”, and “Mobile Home” where over 8000 people were present have all enjoyed his music. He has also shared the stage at larger events with artists such as Kylie Minogue (Venus/6000 people), Grinspoon, Roger Sanchez, Bassment Jaxx (Mobile Home), Derrick May, Bob Sinclair, Alison Limerick, and was applauded for his work at a party in Sydney for Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Johnny has hosted/produced a number of house music radio shows over Seven years such as “Lock up garage”, “The G-spot” as well as a daily drive time slot for one of Sydney 's most popular dance stations (99.3fm), and , was head instructor at Australias most prolific DJ school “Australian United DJ’s” for over eight years. Johnny Gleeson 's Releases with Carl “Banta Boom”(Toolroom Records U.K) , “Funky Freeks” (Effin Records U.S.A), “Right Before my eyes” (Toolroom) were all featured on Pete Tong’s ESSENTIAL SELECTION. Banta Boom reached number 2 in the Denmark dance charts recently, Funky Freeks is currently in Pete’s buzz chart and “Right before my eyes” proved to be a huge success in Miami at the 2005 WMC and was tipped by many to be the tune of the summer in Ibiza this year already seeing support from Pete Tong , Roger Sanchez, Mark Knight and Lee Cabrera to name just a few. |
