DJ 911

 

 

DJ 911 started his career here in Sydney 5 years ago playing at small warehouse parties and local raves. The smaller parties turned into bigger parties and eventually Brendan found himself playing to crowds in excess of 3000.

As the scene in Sydney grew, so did 911’s reputation for being on of Sydneys smoothest mixers. In mid 97 he co-founded Regulator records and within a few months the first release was on its way. ‘Can you funk legit’ was Regulators first 12’ released in September 97. It featured three tracks, the title track, ‘Fuck u’s’ & ‘All i wanna do.’

Within a month of it’s release 911 was on a plane to the Netherlands , with a party booked in Amsterdam, two in england and one in Switzerland.In the UK, 911 played to 8000 people at Helter skelter ‘time’ on the 1st of November. He then continued his stay in Amsterdam for one year playing at large rave parties ‘Hellraiser’ (Netherlands) ‘Innovations’ suporting Lenny Dee.

Dj 911 has played alongside Dj’s such as Buzz Fuzz, Lenny Dee, The Prophet, Dj Pavo, Scorpio, Scott Brown, Tellirium, The Predator, the list goes on.

Currently Brendan is involved in the United Dj mixing school as a teacher, he still plays every major Rave in Australia including all the Powerhouse Production events playing hardhouse through to hardcore and incorperating Turntabilism to his shows.

 

An Interview with 911

1. How long have you been DJing for?

 5 years

 

2. Tell us a bit about your background?

Started playing around at a mates place on his setup, then i got my own setup and at the early stages started playing Happy Hardcore at small rave events then went on to hardcore, then teamed up with Tymez 2 and formed The Immortalz playing at all the raves around sydney and then finally moving over to Amsterdam to do a tour of Europe.After arriving back in Australia im still to this date playing at the big rave events playing Gabberhouse. My main projects now are scratching and turntabilism that is all i basically practice when im on the turntables.

 

3. Where are you currently working?

The last party i played at was Utopia at the Superdome, the next one is Rush Hour at the Superdome whitch will be good cause im doing a live show with Dj KC and Dj Subway.

4.Whitch section of the course do you teach?

Scratching, Turntabilism, Programming, Etc.

5. Describe your style?

DOPE!!

6.Whats your best advice for up and coming djs?

Take everything the wide variety of Djs teach you and create your own style with it!! Practice, Practice and Practice more. DONT BE A BITER!!!!!

7. What are your main highlights of your career?

Playing to 50,000 at Helter Skelter in London and also playing at the massive Hellraiser events in Amsterdam.
